The Central Insecticides Board and Registration Committee (CIBRC) has granted several significant approvals during its latest meeting, supporting the registration of indigenous manufacturing and import of multiple crop protection products under Section 9(3) of the Insecticides Act, 1968. Major agri-input players including FMC India, Bayer CropScience, BASF India, Corteva Crop India, and UPL Ltd. were among those who received the green light.

1. FMC India Pvt. Ltd. — Approval for Indigenous Manufacture of Cyantraniliprole 28.30% OD

The CIBRC has approved the application of M/s FMC India Pvt. Ltd. for the indigenous manufacture of Cyantraniliprole 28.30% OD (300 g/l OD). The product is approved for the control of:

  • Spotted pod borer, Gram pod borer, Tobacco caterpillar on Black gram
  • Pod borer, Tobacco caterpillar on Chickpea
  • Thrips, Fruit borer, Tobacco caterpillar on Chilli
  • Thrips, Aphids, Whitefly, Cotton bollworm, Tobacco caterpillar, Pink bollworm on Cotton
  • Thrips, Flea beetle on Grapes
  • Fall armyworm on Maize
  • Thrips on Onion
  • Aphids, Whitefly, Thrips, Pomegranate butterfly on Pomegranate
  • Spotted pod borer, Gram pod borer on Red gram
  • Yellow Stem borer, Rice Leaf folder on Rice
  • Leaf miner, Aphids, Thrips, Whitefly, Fruit borer on Tomato

This approval is subject to the fixation of Maximum Residue Limits (MRL).

2. Bayer Crop Science Ltd. — Approval for Formulation Import of Aclonifen + Diflufenican + Pyroxasulfone SC

The Committee approved the request of M/s Bayer Crop Science Ltd. for the formulation import of Aclonifen 36.89% + Diflufenican 6.15% + Pyroxasulfone 4.10% SC under Section 9(3) FI.

The product, imported from M/s Bayer AG, Industries Park Hoechst, Frankfurt, Germany, is used for the control of Phalaris minor, Rumex dentatus, and Cyperus rotundus in wheat. Approval is valid until withdrawal from the source country and subject to MRL fixation for all three active ingredients.

3. Bayer CropScience Ltd. — Approval for Indigenous Manufacture of Iprovalicarb + Copper Oxychloride WG

Approval was granted to M/s Bayer CropScience Ltd. for the indigenous manufacture of Iprovalicarb 8.4% + Copper oxychloride 68.2% w/w WG (40.6% w/w as Cu).

The product is approved for control of:

  • Downey mildew on grapes and cucumber
  • Early and late blight on potato and tomato

The approval is subject to MRL fixation.

4. BASF India Ltd. — Approval for Formulation Import of Pyraclostrobin + Tricyclazole ZC

M/s BASF India Ltd. received approval for the formulation import of Pyraclostrobin 75 g/l + Tricyclazole 150 g/l ZC from BASF Española S.L., Tarragona, Spain. The product is intended for the control of Blast disease in paddy.

The approval remains valid until the product is withdrawn from the source country, with MRL fixation as a condition.

5. Corteva Crop India Pvt. Ltd. — Drone Application Label Expansion for Sulfoxaflor 11.4% SC

The application from M/s Corteva Crop India Pvt. Ltd. was approved for a label expansion to allow drone-based application of the already registered Sulfoxaflor 11.4% w/w SC (12% w/v). This endorsement applies only to cotton crops under Section 9(3) of the Insecticides Act, 1968.

6. UPL Ltd. — Multiple Approvals for Indigenous Manufacture of Herbicides

  • Metolachlor 39.37% + Oxyfluorfen 3.94% EC
    Approved for weed control in cotton, targeting:
    Echinochloacolona, Digitariasanguinalis, Dinebraretroflexa, Commelina bengalensis, Digera arvensis, Euphorbia hirta, Trianthemaportulacastrum, Amaranthus viridis, Parthenium hysterophorus, Cyperus iria.
    Subject to MRL fixation for both active ingredients.
  • Metolachlor 35.98% + Sulfentrazone 11.51% EC
    Approved for weed control in soybean, targeting:
    Echinochloacolona, Digitariasanguinalis, Dinebraretroflexa, Brachiariareptans, Commelina bengalensis, Impatiens balsamina, Trianthemaportulacastrum, Euphorbia geniculata, Cyperus iria.
    Subject to MRL fixation for both active ingredients.
  • Metribuzin 21% + Pyroxasulfone 12.75% WG
    Approved for use in wheat against:
    Phalaris minor, Chenopodium album, Rumex dentatus, Melilotus alba, Anagallis arvensis.
    Subject to MRL fixation of both Metribuzin and Pyroxasulfone.
