Sun Pharmaceutical launches new suspension for the treatment of dry Cough Chericof12

Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. has announced the introduction of a formulation in cough management — Chericof 12 (Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide 30 mg and Chlorpheniramine Maleate 4 mg in India. The company said this was the first prescription cough syrup in India that gave relief for up to 12 hours. 

It is manufactured using Polistirex technology for sustained release of the drug which is approved for patients aged six years and above. “All cough syrups generally give relief for 6-8 hours, and hence a patient has to take it three to four times a day. Frequent dosing often leads to patient inconvenience and non-adherence to follow the regimen, which may compromise the efficacy of the medication and disturb the daily lifestyle,” the company said in a statement. 

Chericof 12 Oral Suspension Cherry is a combination medicine used in the treatment of dry cough. It works by reducing the activity of cough center in the brain. It relieves allergic symptoms like runny nose, watery eyes, sneezing, throat irritation.
Chericof 12 Oral Suspension Cherry is taken with or without food in a dose and duration as advised by the doctor. The dose you are given will depend on your condition and how you respond to the medicine. You should keep taking this medicine for as long as your doctor recommends. If you stop treatment too early your symptoms may come back and your condition may worsen. Let your doctor know about all other medications you are taking as some may affect, or be affected by this medicine.
The most common side effects are nausea, upset stomach, and rash. Most of these are temporary and usually resolve with time. This medicine may also cause dizziness and sleepiness, so do not drive or do anything that requires mental focus until you know how this medicine affects you. Avoid drinking alcohol while taking this medicine as it can make dizziness worse. 

Shares of Sun Pharmaceuticals Industries were up nearly 2 per cent at Rs 792.85 on the BSE in Wednesday’s intra-day trade, gaining 4 per cent in the past two trading days, after the company launched a novel formulation in cough management, Chericof12 (Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide 30mg and Chlorpheniramine Maleate 4 mg) in India. The stock of the pharmaceutical company was trading close to its 52-week high level of Rs 804.40 touched on August 3, 2021.
