BASF Launches Fungicide Revyona (75 g/L Mefentrifluconazole) in Spain

BASF

Summary :-

Revysol® is the first Isopropanol-Azole in the market. Its unique chemical constellation allows the molecule to assume different conformations easily and to be extremely flexible.

European legislation for the renewal and registration of active substances and phytosanitary products has been increasingly complex and demanding. Under this new scenario, many active materials are not being renewed, and it is also increasingly difficult to register new molecules, therefore, causing less availability in terms of solutions for European agriculture. BASF focuses on offering new solutions that meet the most stringent regulatory criteria. A clear example is Revysol® (mefentrifluconazole), a new triazole that hit the market when many of products in its family are still pending renewal.

The company highlighted the versatility, efficacy and favorable regulatory profile of the new fungicide. The Revysol® molecule is currently registered for use on many crops in several countries and covers a wide spectrum of disease control, covering mottling, alternaria, powdery mildew, monilia and rot. Since innovation and development are a continuous process, research is currently continuing to expand its label to new crops and diseases, such as dent, ocher spot that affect almond tree, resistant septoria and anthracnose. In addition, it is highly effective compared to other triazoles used on fruit trees and vineyards, even in areas where resistance to triazoles has been recorded.

About Revysol

Mefentrifluconazole Structure

  • Description-Revysol® is the first Isopropanol-Azole in the market. Its unique chemical constellation allows the molecule to assume different conformations easily and to be extremely flexible.Mefentrifluconazole (Revysol) is a new broad-spectrum triazole fungicide that belongs to FRAC (Fungicide Resistance Action Committee) Code 3.
  • Active Ingredients – 75 g/L Mefentrifluconazole
  • IUPAC:2-[4-(4-chlorophenoxy)-2-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]-1-(1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)propan-2-ol
  • CAS RN:1417782-03-6
  • CHEMICAL CLASS: Fungicides (Conazole Fungicides) [1]
  • Indication: FUNGICIDE
  • Mode of action: Revysol® inhibits one specific enzyme, C14-demethylase, which plays a role in the ergosterol production inside the fungal cell. Ergosterol, like other sterols, is needed for an intact cell membrane.

− Simplifying risk, work and crop management.
− An invaluable partner in the continuing development of responsible, productive and profitable potato growing practice.

Fact About Revysol

-Revysol® is currently the only Azole fully approved under EU Regulation1107/2009 until 2029.
− Revysol® has been evaluated by the most recent and rigorous criteria;
− making sure of no negative impacts on the environment or human beings;
− considering all individual details but looking at them in sum it makes Revysol® different.

Revysol® stops the production of ergosterol by fungus, which ruptures cell membranes, as well as adds to the strengths of triazoles and minimizes all their weaknesses. Due to its flexible molecule, it adapts perfectly to any pathogen. It is even effective against strains resistant to triazoles. ″In Spain, Revysol® was launched and authorized for use vine and fruit crops under the name, Revyona®, a product that combines the high efficiency needed by farmers and a favorable regulatory profile,” said Lidia Paredes (Head of Vine Crops for Spain and Fruit Trees at BASF).

During the presentation, many studies on mutated powdery mildew strains in vineyards and mutated strains affected by mottling in apple crops and Revyona®, compared to other triazoles on the market, were discussed. BASF pointed out that the product does not lose efficiency even during rains, low temperatures or high solar radiation, which is why it is a versatile tool for farm management.
The closing ceremony for the launch of Revyona® was attended by Patricio Fitz Simon, new director of the Agricultural Division of BASF Agro Spain, who was proud to be part of the milestone of launching a new product with these characteristics.
