BAYER CROP SCIENCE HERBICIDE CANDIDATE – ICAFOLIN – GOT ISO STATUS-1750

ICAFOLIN

Icafolin is a herbicide, which is highly effective against economically important harmful plants even at relatively low application rates and can be used selectively in crop plants, preferably with good activity against harmful plants, and at the same time preferably have good compatibility with crop plants. Preferably, these herbicidal compounds should be particularly effective and efficient against a broad spectrum of weed grasses and preferably also have good activity against a large number of weeds.

Surprisingly, Icafolin esters and salts provide excellent herbicidal activity against a broad spectrum of economically important mono and dicotyledonous annual harmful plants.

PATENT INFORMATION:

Bayer has filed two patents covering the active ingredient Icafolin

  • International Patent applications, e.g. WO2018228985 and WO2018228986 are the compound patents of Icafolin, filed by Bayer Aktiengesellschaft on 2018-06-11, and both patents were published on 2018-12-20.

The said patent also discloses the Pre-emergence herbicidal studies of Icafolin analogs:

Compounds Nos. 1-21 and other compounds in the tables (for example, 1-10, 1-26, 1-09, 1-30, 1-28, 1-29, 1-27, 1-01, 1-06, 1-34, 1-32, 1-33, 1-19, 1-11, 1-12, 1-35, 1-36, 1-37, 1-38, 1-41, 1-42, 1- 43, 1-44, 1-46, 1-49) have a very good action (80% to 100% herbicidal action) against harmful plants such as Abutilon theophrasti, Alopecurus myosuroides, Amaranthus retroflexus, Avena fatua, Echinochloca crus, during preemergence treatment. gallium, Hordeum murinum, Lolium rigidum, Pharitis purpurea, Polygonum convolvulus, Setaria viridis, Stellaria media, Veronica persica and Viola tricolor at an application rate of 0.08 kg of active ingredient or less per hectare.

Post-emergence herbicidal of Icafolin analogs:

Compounds Nos. 1-35 and other compounds from the tables (for example, 1-28, 1-38, 1-01, 1-19, 1-36, 1-29, 1-32, 1-11, 1-12, 1-37, 1-06, 1-09, 1-33, 1-34, 1-13, 1-04, 1-26, 1-21, 1-30, 1-05, 1-03, 1- 20, 1-27, 1-14, 1-10, 1-23, 1-07, 1-25, 1-02, 1-08, 1-24, 1-41, 1-42, 1-43, 1-44, 1-46, 1-49, 1-54, 1-55, 1-56)

Postemergence very good herbicidal action (80% to 100% herbicidal action) against harmful plants such as Abutilon theophrasti, Alopecurus myosuroides, Amaranthus retroflexus, Avena fatua, Echinochloa crus-galli, Hordeum murinum, Lolium rigidum, Pharitis purpurea, Polygonum convolvulus, Setaria viridis, Stellaria media, Veronica persica and Viola tricolor at an application rate of 0.32 kg of active ingredient or less per hectare.
