BASF TO INTRODUCE NEW GROUP-3 FUNGICIDE BASED ON MEFENTRIFLUCONAZOLE ACTIVE FOR PEANUTS

Mefentrifluconazole, Provysol, fungicide

Mefentrifluconazole, Provysol, fungicide

Provysol fungicide, powered by the new Revysol® fungicide active ingredient, is the first and only isopropanol azole chemistry that is a truly unique solution for disease control. With an innovative molecular structure, Provysol fungicide is a revolutionary new disease management tool for growers who farm potatoes, sugar beets or peanuts.

Formulation Detail :

  • Mefentrifluconazole: 2-[4-(4-chlorophenoxy)-2-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]-1-
  • (1H-1,2,4-triazole-1-yl)propan-2-ol . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 34.93%

* Provysol fungicide contains 3.34 lbs mefentrifluconazole per gallon. Mefentrifluconazole  is a white, solid, odourless, crystalline powder. Mefentrifluconazole  Technical is an offwhite powder with moderate thiolic odour. The active substance is neither flammable or explosive, nor oxidising.

  • EPA Reg. No. 7969-411
  • BASF Number: BAS 750 F
  • BASF Registry Number: Reg.No. 5834378
  • ISO common name: Mefentrifluconazole (ISO proposed)
  • Minimum purity: 965 g/kg

The vapour pressure amounts to 3.2 ∙ 10-6 Pa at 20°C. BAS 750 F has a solubility in the pure water of 0.81 g/L at 20 °C. Its n octanol/water partition coefficient (log POW) is 3.4. The dissociation constant (pKa) is reported to be 3.0. The active substance absorbs light in the UV area absorption bands around 202, 232, 272, 290, and 295 nm).

Mode of Action (MOA):

Mefentrifluconazole is a fungicide belonging to the group of sterol biosynthesis inhibitors (SBI, mode of action class G). Within the SBIs, it belongs to the subgroup of demethylation inhibitor (DMI, G1) and the chemical group of triazoles. Due to its unique isopropanol moiety, it will be proposed to belong to a new sub-group of triazole fungicides, the isopropanol azoles.

The primary mode of action of DMIs is the blocking of ergosterol biosynthesis through inhibition of cytochrome P450 sterol 14α-demethylase (CYP51). The depletion of ergosterol and accumulation of non-functional 14α-methyl sterols results in inhibition of growth and cell membrane disruption.

How Provysol Fungicide Works

Engineered with a flexible molecule, Provysol fungicide quickly penetrates plants for fast, long-lasting control. Designed specifically for low-growing plants that can be excellent hosts for diseases, Provysol fungicide can be a foundational application in a fungicide spray program, delivering early protection that sets up the rest of the program for long-lasting control and long-lasting success.

The unique isopropanol azole bridge allows the Revysol molecule to customize its shape, allowing for tighter binding at the enzyme site of action for excellent efficacy of even the toughest diseases like Cercospora leaf spot in sugar beets, early blight in potatoes or early and late leaf spot in peanuts.

Benefits of Provysol™ Fungicide.

  • Fast-acting control and long-lasting residual gives growers flexibility.
  • Outstanding leaf penetration in all types of field conditions
  • Works across multiple crops, including potatoes, sugar beets, peanuts, dry beans and peas.

Provysol fungicide is bringing new life into the FRAC 3 fungicide group. Its active ingredient. The unique properties of Provysol fungicide are changing the game for peanut growers who need a solution that delivers a new level of efficacy.

With more effective and longer lasting disease control, Provysol fungicide is the optimal choice to control leaf spot, while also providing suppression of white mold and Rhizoctonia in peanuts.

Rovysol fungicide, powered by Revysol fungicide, the first and only isopropanol-azole on the market, has recently received EPA and state approvals for updates to its label including:

Reduced pre-harvest interval (PHI) to seven days for sugarbeets;

  • Suppression of powdery mildew in sugarbeets;
  • Approval for use in-furrow in sugarcane;
  • Addition of fruiting vegetables and cucurbits; and
  • Reduced plant-back interval restrictions to zero days for rotational crops including cotton, rice, sunflowers, alfalfa, and onions.

Provysol fungicide has been registered since 2019 for use on sugarbeets, potatoes, peanuts, legume vegetables, canola, and citrus.

“These additions to the label, combined with the fast-acting disease control and long-lasting residual protection that Provysol fungicide provides, gives more growers the opportunity to use Provysol fungicide as the foundation for their season-long disease control strategy,”

Provysol is formulated to quickly penetrate leaves and then form reservoirs to meter out the active ingredient, Provysol fungicide is able to deliver both fast-acting disease control and longer-lasting residual protection. The unique molecular structure allows Provysol fungicide to bend and flex and bind tightly to the fungal receptor, which makes it possible to defend your crops against diseases that have developed resistance or  reduced sensitivity to other chemistries.

But Provysol fungicide doesn’t just fight against leaf spot in this year’s crop. It’s also an essential piece of your farm’s long-term resistance management strategy. Proper stewardship involves using multiple MOAs in rotation or as tank mixtures and using them at appropriate retreatment intervals. The FRAC Group 7 and 11 fungicides you’re relying on today are working well for the most part, but they’re  facing increased pressure due to widespread use, which could result in resistance management challenges if we don’t protect them.

That’s where Provysol fungicide comes in. As the newest innovation in the FRAC 3 fungicide group, it strengthens your season-long disease control program by relieving the burden on FRAC 7 and 11 fungicides. It allows growers and agronomists to practice sound resistance management without compromising performance on key diseases like leaf spot. Provysol fungicide is an ideal rotational partner for Priaxor® fungicide, as part of your season-long disease control and Plant Health strategy. It’s the missing piece you need to finish off disease—not just today but for years to come. Complete your long-term disease control strategy with Provysol fungicide.
