Corteva Agriscience

Summary :

Corteva Agriscience has announced the debut of “Range Z,” a new generation of fungicides for minor crops based on a novel new chemical called Zorvec Technology.

Generation Z fungicides, according to the firm, “aim to transform the market by boosting the level of control of the most harmful diseases in the hortifruti universe and promoting better yields and more productive crops throughout the year.”

The new fungicide Zorvec Entido is targeted at the potato crop and targets late blight, the crop’s major disease, which has a significant impact on harvest output, with losses of up to 100%. Potatoes are one of the world’s most important agricultural crops, with significant socioeconomic implications. Brazil produces around 4.1 million tonnes of sugar per year on an average of 100,000 hectares.

Zorvec Encantia, on the other hand, specialises in tomato production while also being adaptable to 17 other hortifruti crops, including grapes, melons, watermelon, and hardwoods. It’s used to combat late blight, a highly aggressive disease that may wipe out entire tomato crops in a matter of days. As well as downy mildew, which causes early death in various cultures.

“For Corteva, the release of Zorvec is critical. It required more than ten years of study to create a novel chemical with an unrivalled level of consistency and control. It has the finest oomycetes (mildew and late blight) management in the industry. “The new products have two specialist actives that came to change everything in terms of effectiveness, protection, and productivity,” says Tainá Sipos, Portfolio Leader of Corteva Agriscience’s Hortifruti Line. “They will be great allies for the producer in all stages of cultivation and in challenging climatic conditions.”

The new products have a “differentiated mode of action, working in a completely new metabolic component, producing numerous effects on the oomycete life cycle and no cross-resistance with current fungicides on the market,” according to her.

It protects the leaves as they grow and extend due to its ascending systemic behaviour, even ensuring the protection of fresh shoots that have not been treated. The application should be done in a preventative manner, during the vegetative growth of horticultural crops, when the culture’s productive potential is specified.

Corteva claims that the new products offer long-lasting control and fast absorption, which allows for a high tolerance to washing by rain or irrigation water, and are allies in the anti-resistance strategy.
